Common questions about Singpass verification
Is Singpass verification mandatory?
No. Singpass verification is optional and free. You can use glup without it, but verified profiles earn a trust badge visible to other users.
Does glup see my NRIC?
No. We receive only a one-way cryptographic hash — a random string that confirms your identity without revealing any personal information. We never see, store, or process your NRIC, FIN, address, or any government records.
Can I remove my verification?
Yes. You can revoke your Singpass verification anytime from your profile settings. Your cryptographic link is deleted immediately.
Who can use Singpass verification?
Any Singapore resident with a Singpass account — citizens, permanent residents, and eligible pass holders. Singpass is used by over 4.5 million people in Singapore.
Is this the same Singpass I use for government services?
Yes. The same Singpass app you use for CPF, IRAS, and banking. glup uses Singpass for optional identity verification.
